This is the first I've heard of these service records. I guess long before the Internet and mobile phone and video chat this is how families separated by war communicated. A lost piece of history. A story? I'd like to know more about how they were recorded and just how widespread they were. I could see a whole website where people could do and list to these. Kind of like NPR's Story Corps.
